계세요 — 어른에게 쓰는 진행형Honorific progressive: -고 계세요 vs -고 있어요

어른/윗사람의 동작을 표현할 때: -고 있어요 → -고 계세요 · Use -고 계세요 for elders/superiors

Both mean 'is doing / is in the middle of doing.' Use ~고 있어요 for friends and family (casual), and ~고 계세요 when talking about or to an elder (honorific). The same way you'd use -셨어요 for past, use -고 계세요 for present continuous.

• 덕분에 잘 지내고 있어요.I've been doing well. (~고 있어요, about myself)
• 선생님은 지금 뭐 하고 계세요?What is the teacher doing right now? (~고 계세요, honorific)
